Stretch Marks!!!

Oh Shit!

I was feeling all proud of my non-stretch-marked self for having such elastic skin and being so frickin beautiful.

Then, last night, I was getting punched in the belly while I brushed my teeth. I lifted up my shirt to see if I could see the punches from the outside when I saw something awful. Two little blue lines snaking around on my right side. M decided that I was getting bruises from the punches because we have the strongest baby in the world. I had to tell him the awful truth.

I have one small container of lotion for this stuff (I'll get more this weekend). I was rubbing it all over my belly and M was just laying in bed laughing. He said he wants to rub the belly from now on. Then he told me I look like Tim Allen in The Santa Clause. I love my husband.

So funny! I'd dreading stretchmarks too and research everything to see if I can avoid them. But most stuff I read seems to point to good ol' genetics, if your mom had 'em, you'll likely get them, etc.

But keep applying that cream! ;)

Is this your first pregnancy? if so your skin has never been stretched like that before and it really does boil down to genetics
:( sorry.

I have not gotten any new ones............yet. But my first pretty much stretched everything out 13 years ago, lol.

I'm sure that you're beautiful, stretch marks and all. How sweet that your husband wants to take over lotion-rubbing duty!

Don't hate me, but I don't have any colored (blue or red or purple) stretch marks. I do have white/flesh-colored marks around my hips, though, but they were there pre-pregnancy. I attribute this to me having been very heavy and lost weight years ago (70 lbs, I kid you not), so maybe my body already knows the stretch-the-skin-routine?

I wonder if women who have second and third (and so on) full-term pregnancies get stretch marks, or new ones, or because they previously had the stretching they don't?

The body shop Vitamin E Body Butter is awesome... But the ladies are right, it's all about genetics...

I didn't have any stretch marks with my pregnancy with D until literally the last two weeks. (Just a couple around the belly button then.) It was definitely an "are you kidding me?? Now???" moment!

Crap! My mom has HORRIBLE ones, but I'm hoping that's due to my 12 lb. baby brother and that they'll magically bypass me.

Oh, you're so cute! I mean, I feel bad for you, but it's so sweet in a way!

I have some Burt's Bees Belly Butter stuff, but I haven't used it - I got it, then read about three things that say it doesn't help, so I gave up. That's probably counterproductive, so you've inspired me to restart!

I love M's offers to "help"! :)

That's so sweet that M wants to do the lotion rubbing. I'm sure you're looking beautiful, despite the stretch marks! I'll be interested to hear if you think the lotion helps.

So close! At least the lotion rubbing is a couple activity!
